I adopted a 10 week old kitten a week ago only because I stood up to my new dh who is a cat hater. I told him if he loved me, he'd let me get one because CATS have always been a part of who I am and he was suppressing a part of me! :) He believes ALL cats pee on carpets and ruin homes, so I did it with the promise that if the cat started peeing on our carpet, I would surrender it back to the Humane Society. Neither of us want that to happen as even dh is now smitten with kitty, so how can one keep a cat going ONLY in its litter box? I caught kitty peeing in a corner of our bedroom one night when dh was out-of-town, grabbed him and put him in his litterbox. This morning, I thought I smelled urine in our closet. :( Luckily, dh has no sense of smell, so wouldn't smell it anyway. What am I doing wrong? I don't want to give kitty back...we both already adore him, but a promise IS a promise and neither of us want our house ruined. Why is my kitty doing this? I've had many cats in the past who didn't do this. I feel like I'm being deceitful to dh by not telling him, but, after only one week, I feel like its not been long enough to give kitty a chance.
