Well this little girl threw me for a loop this moring at the ultrasound. She was head down and butt up! She had been breech just like her brothers both were at this stage (28 weeks) so we had planned on doing a third c-section. Due to my heart shaped uterus both my boys got stuck head up and it was not safe to attempt to turn them before birth. That is the only reason I had a c-section with either boy. I talked with the midwife today and she said that my hospital does allow for vaginal births after 2 c-sections. She would put a note into my OB so we could discuss it more with him at my next appointment. She said being that the only reason I have had c-sections in the past was due to the boys being breech and that not being a problem with this pregnancy I was a good candidate for a VBAC. The midwife said a lot of women at my hospital will schedule the date for their c-section. If they go into labor before then they will attempt a VBAC. If they make it to the scheduled surgery date with out going into labor on their own then they do the c-section. My hospital does not induce labor for VBACs. I talked to my husband about it and he liked the idea of scheduling the c-section and then just seeing what happens. If I go into labor then he is all for a VBAC if not then he is fine with third c-section. That is the direction I am leaning in too. Of course I still want to talk to my OB about his opinions. So what do you ladies think? What would you do in my situation? There are so many reasons I am coming up with to at least give it a try and very few reasons to not try a VBAC. Most of my reasons for not doing it involve just doing what I have already done because that is what I know. But I don't want to miss out on the oppertunity to experience a vaginal birth just because c-sections are my comfy zone.
