and he said she needs to see an orthodontist
When Rhi was around 9, he thought she may need braces, but things seemed to straighten out OK. Recently she's been having some trouble getting rid of baby teeth (G and I both were late shedding ours too, and it apparently runs in families) There are two teeth that our dentist has been eyeing for a while, that will probably need pulling, but he's been holding off to see if they will just come out by themselves, so far not though. Rhi has been complaining lately of clicking in her jaw (all of her joints pop and click and are hyper flexible, so I wasn't really surprised that her jaw would be too)
Today he said that he is concerned that the two teeth that are still in, might be causing some additional strain on the jaw. He wants her to get an opinion from an orthodontist before he goes ahead and starts yanking teeth though, so he's given us a referral and we have to make an appointment.
Rhi is not thrilled, but several of her friends have braces so she at least doesn't feel that it would be the end of the world.
We most likely will not get an appointment till January now, I am really hoping that braces will not be necessary, but we shall see...
