Authorities have evacuated an entire town in northwest Louisiana after more than 6 million pounds of powdered explosives were found hidden at a shuttered military ammunition plant there.

The load of M6 artillery powder, at Camp Minden near Doyline, is six times larger than authorities initially thought after it was first discovered on Friday. Officials said containers of explosives were sitting outside in piles and in roofless buildings, exposed to the weather.

After asking some residents to leave on Friday, town officials moved to evacuate the entire town of 850 on Sunday.
