This is just a random question .... DS is a remarkably good independent player. He will entertain himself for long stretches of time with little or no encouragement. However, when I am trying to play with him doing things like puzzles or drawing or play-doh - he mostly just wants me to do it and he watches. "Mommy draw a fish!" On his own he will draw things that are actually somewhat recognizable. But if I am there he doesn't want to even try or even just color in somethign that I made the outline of. Is this common? How can I encourage the creativity without just leaving him to play by himself (not that he will always)? He is also not interested in trying to draw letters or numbers for the most part though he has been interested before.
