My older son made a foul shot last night at his basketball game and I even got it on video. He doesn't get to play much because he's not real aggressive like other kids on the team- nor is he real tall for catching rebounds. But they get him into the game for a few minutes at a time and this time, he was fouled and got 2 shots. He was so excited that he made the one, that he started running to the other side of the court and being all excited, then I think he was too psyched out that he didn't even come close with his 2nd shot!
My younger guy saw a lot of action too. He actually touched the ball several times and was in position to try to shoot, but I think he was so excited by having the ball, that he just wanted to give it to someone better. The coaches kept yelling for the better boys to get the ball to the ones that weren't as good, since our opponents were about our same skill level in this game... some who if playing soccer would have been picking dandelions, and some who would be pretty "in" the game. While trying to video my son get a basket (which he has yet to do), I caught on video another of his teammates who made an awesome basket- a boy who has deformed hands and feet, who is a little heavy- so slower. You should have heard everyone scream for him! It was awesome! His mom was crying- she never thought sports would even be a possiblity for her son! I kinda hope we get to play this team or another like it again- because it was probably as refreshing for them as it was for us- to not be pounded (even though they don't keep score at the 3rd and 4th grade game). We won both games, but it was so close, it could have gone either way.
