Mince and tatties, is a Scottish dish and it means ground beef with potatoes, it easy to make and very filling.
1 tablespoon oil.
1 large onion, finely chopped.
1 lb beef mince.
2 medium carrots, diced.
1 tablespoon toasted pinhead oatmeal or grits
2 cup water
1 or 2 beef stock cubes.
1½ tablespoon plain flour
Salt and pepper.
Potatoes, as much as you need for 4 people.
Put a pot with water and a little salt on the stove and turn on, this is for the potatoes. Clean and peel the vegggies and chop the onion finely and dice the carrot, keep it small it cooks faster. Cut the potatoes in quarters and pop into a pot with boiling water. Heat up the oil in a pan, add the onion and cook until soft, add the beef and brown. Sprinkle over the flour and stir, add the water, grits/ oatmeal, stock cube abd stir. Cook for 20 minutes, stir from time to time. Now the carrots and grits should be done and the potatoes too. Taste the mince and season with salt and pepper. Drain potatoes and now it is ready to serve.
