I usually have my small rolling suitcase (with necessities in case the big one is lost or delayed), a pillow with a blanket inside the pillow case (This is allowed since they no longer provide those things!) and my purse (in which I have my medicines....as well as all the usual stuff).
Well, last time we flew, the bag of medicines took up about 1/3 of the ballet bag I was using as a purse! So, despite the fact you could fit a small child in that bag, I went searching for a bigger purse and FOUND IT! You could carry a rolled up sleeping bag in this one, plus a small flannel blanket! Seems I'm always the one carrying all the "etc" stuff....the video camera, the regular camera, addresses and contacts for home and for hotels/car rental/etc., my meds, anti-nauseants, tickets and baggage checks, my brush and makeup, facial tissue, three pairs of glasses (reading, driving and sunglasses), confirmations and reservation numbers, my handicapped placard, my personal alarm, wallet, pencil and sketch book, keys and whatever the guys don't want to carry. So, it's enormous! A soft beige leather, with lots of pockets inside.....but I'm going to add either velcro or snaps to keep them from dumping their contents!
And it is genuinely a purse......
TSA is also going to allow me to take a lunch since the airlines don't supply diabetic lunches AND I get to carry a bottle of water, too....as long as it's announced to the searchers and separate from other things. Boy, am I learning about the ins and outs of flying and allllllllllll the details of what you can and can't carry on!
We aren't leaving until March 1 but I'm trying to get a lot of small stuff out of the way (like the velcro and snaps) now.
I'm a definite list writer and so far it's taking a full page of a yellow regular sized tablet.....not for what I'm taking, but for that plus what has to be done.....find charger for video cam, write up itinerary for house sitters, all that sort of thing.
Meanwhile, we ARE making progress on cleaning up the studio attic.........I worked from 2 a.m. to almost 6 a.m. yesterday just sorting things out and dumping chewed cardboard out of boxes!
