Friday Homeschool Recess 2/1

Hey moms and grandmas, come on out and play.  It's recess time!

I just realized that the cute orange kitty in the picture above, like my Tinsel, has a very round belly.  Too cute.  Tinsel would have that exact mischievous look about her, too.  What a silly girl.

DD says she misses me.  Already.  Awwwww.  Nice to be missed by the girl, even when she's off having fun with friends.  We are so close because of everything she's going through, and she does come to me for lots of hugs and snuggles, and I suspect that's what she's missing the most...not that she can't get hugs from her friends' mom but you know, it's just not the same as your own mom, right?

6 more hours to that thing called WEEKEND OFF.  Yay.  Still debating exactly what to do with ds, and when.  I'd like to go see a movie with him, either Saturday night or Sunday.  We want to make it to the gym.  And then there are those mundane things called cooking and cleaning and laundry and school.  Such is life.

Found out also that we have to get a new furnace.  There's a crack in the motor that would cost over $500 to repair...on a 15+ year old furnace.  That doesn't seem very cost effective when the whole furnace could need to be replaced within a few years. So, we'll take advantage of the rebate program our power company has going right now and lower the price a bit.  We'll be upgrading to a furnace with 95% economic efficiency (from 80%), and it has some sort of blower that stays on all the time to keep air circulating so the house doesn't cycle as much from cool to warm to cool to warm.  Supposedly it's a good way to go.  I don't know.  I didn't need to buy a furnace, LOL.  But, I'll be happy to be warmer...this has been a chilly winter as the current one struggles along.  Not sure when we'll get it.  DH has to take the paperwork in today and let them know what we want.  DS is beside himself with joy at the prospect of getting to watch this whole deinstallation/reinstallation process.

Oh, exciting news that I forgot to share!  My dad booked another Arizona trip.  DD gets to go this time!  My dad bought a hopped up Jeep (big tires, lift kit, good for bajaing in the desert & mountains) that he and dd are going to drive out there.  They can haul some things that they couldn't take on the plane as well, and leave them stored with their Indian guide/friend, for use on future geological expeditions.  They're also selling the guide the Jeep, which he'll be able to put to good use both personally and for guiding.  They'll be gone a total of two weeks but several of those days will be driving, and then they'll be doing research and exploration for at least a week before flying back home.  The "team" is smaller...just my dad and the kids, and one other member and his wife, so there'll be another woman around and dd won't be the only femme amongst a bunch of grubby guys, LOL.  She is so excited that she gets to go.  This will be her first time on an airplane too, because she refuses to count flying home from Florida when she was 6 months old as a plane trip.  I remember it all too well and I think it counts perfectly well, LOL.
