I was reading this very interesting article in the Huffington Post about women's jobs and how the position of secretary is still the number one spot for women. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/01/top-job-for-women-secretary-same-as-1950_n_2599560.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular It really hit home because I am currently taking classes to improve my job skills and almost everyone in my classes are women. Also, most everyone who works has an a position in office administration and those who don't work are looking for these type positions. I have been giving much thought to the article and have come to the conclusion that the reason "secretary" positions are so popular is because they work out the best for women, especially those who have children who need to be cared for. It's good pay, comes with set hours, and a steady paycheck. Most of these type jobs also come with the opportunity to learn or apply new skills which translates into more money. I think overall that secretary positions have changed and become more challenging and lucrative thus attracting more educated and skilled women. So I don't think it is a bad thing that women are still secretaries after all these years. You?
