I just got an email from EHarmony with a link to an article called "10 reasons to be happy you're single on Valentines Day". The reasons were kind of lame except the one that was something like you don't have to give in to the commercialism of the holiday, which I think is true. I don't care that I'm single on V-day, I don't feel sad when I see the ads to get Val. gifts, roses, or whatever--to me it's just another day. I think I'd be sadder not to have a date if I was going to a special occasion, a wedding or sometimes when I go dancing and there are way more single women than men. I feel kind of bad for men who are in relationships because it seems like the gift giving is geared way more toward men buying things for women--jewelry, roses, lingerie. There's not much that you can traditionally buy a man except candy.
My excitement for V-day this year is that my DD is coming home for the weekend--I haven't seen her since Thanksgiving. Both her father & my mother have birthdays over the weekend.
