Yes, it's me posting again!! lol. I guess I've had some frustration lately and had to vent.......
I mentioned this contract position I have taken.......it was supposed to be marketing related (marketing admin support - answering queries and working on marketing documents) but I learned very quickly that it's actually a junior executive assistant position. They used someone in marketing's mat leave to hire a person for six months, but in fact they are trying to justify a new admin role. I have not specifically done all of the tasks that have been expected of me before, so I'm just learning as fast as I can and displaying enthusiasm.
I have also trained to cover reception.......it's been two weeks so far. I've done everything that's been asked of me - one director made a comment "You're awesome!". I have had little to no training, and I just basically ask others or try and figure out how to do whatever tasks are required.
I have one other admin who has been asking me questions incessantly about my role, salary, tasks, etc. (she asks me what I am doing and for who - it got to the point where I just didn't answer her questions).
My boss (a senior exec admin) is quite busy, so I suggested that we meet up once a week briefly to have a "status" meeting. We met up on Friday and went through the various tasks (I had prepared a written document). She said to me - "The one comment that I've gotten (from the main VP I am supporting) is that I am so much faster at things than you."
WTF?? After two weeks on contract? I don't think that that comment was meant for my ears and she totally repeated it. She is also trying to create/justify a new role, so I keep getting comments from her - e.g. "They are working on the head count for next year" (e.g. meaning there may or may not be a permanent position created) and she asked me if I thought my role was a "full time job".
Blahhh!! As I say, I'm sorry that I just have to vent. This is a large company so I didn't expect this.......I know I just have to suck it up and go back tomorrow with all my enthusiasm, but to people not know how to manage?? I'm thinking I should just work for myself, after all these experiences!!!
Boo hoo :(
