I was reading a magazine tonight before going to bed (More) & this snippet on rethinking romance rut cliches caught my eye, since this was a recent debate here.
Here the suggestions of novelist Ann Leary, who's been married to comedian Denis Leary for 24 years
"Have a regular 'date night'--but call it what it is: a 'sex night.' And don't cook (he'll take you out).
Talk things through--but never with him! Gripe to your friends. They'll in turn grouse about their own partners, and you'll see what a virtual saint you're married to. Go home and reward this angel with silence. And sex.
Recreate your first date. Unless you can't remember much about that night. And you're too old to do those drugs."
