I will try to make this short(ish). DD (finished freshman year) had a $7,000 academic scholarship at her public university. She needed a 3.25 gpa to renew for each of the next 3 years. She got a 3.219. They canceled the scholarship. She sent them an e-mail, and they replied, giving her instructions on how to appeal. She is writing the letter now. Her grandfather died during the semester. She had to take a 4 hour (one way) trip on Monday and Wednesday afternoon/evenings to get to the funeral and back to campus. She missed 2 tests. Her one teacher accommodated her. The other didn't, and she failed the test miserably the morning after the funeral. It made the difference between a B- and a B in the class. The B would have made her GPA high enough. That is basically the "extenuating circumstances" she has outlined in the letter.
Any suggestions? Has anyone else been through this?
Thanks for any suggestions.
