Long time since I stopped by to say hi. I think the last time I was here my granddaughter was either coming to live with us or had just arrived. That was an exciting and tiring time. She got here January 11 and her parents didn't arrive until May 17. Now we're one happy (sometimes not so happy) family living under one roof.
I made the decision a few weeks ago that I need to have knee replacement so I got the courage to call the doc on Friday but there was nobody in the office due to the holiday so I had to bring up more courage this morning and make the call. I thought he'd want another appointment to discuss but noooo, the nurse scheduled the surgery on my left knee for August 1st and we'll discuss the right knee after about 3 months.
At my last visit we did talk again about surgery and we went over all the risks and complications that could happen. He said there's about a 1% chance of infection which was a huge concern of ours since Don's mother got a doozy of an infection following her surgery and it went to the bone. She ended up losing her leg above the knee in an attempt to fight it but after 4 years she lost the battle. He did say the risk of infection is slightly higher if you're diabetic, which I am and then it's slightly higher if you have RA which I do. The RA he said is due to the drugs but thankfully I'm not on any biologics which is a concern of his. The methotrexate he doesn't even ask you to stop taking but I think I will for my own peace of mind.
How's everyone else doing?
