Carol (thatyank), the CL of Stitcher's Niche, and I decided to stitch a very difficult piece of needlework and we started a thread on her board charting our progress and trials and tribulations. She finished hers much earlier than I did but we both finished in time to enter them into our county fairs. We both won first prize! I additionally won Best if Division and Best in Show. Her fair doesn't offer these levels of awards. I was just blown away when I found out on Wednesday what I had won. I am now eligible to enter my piece into the CA State Fair next year.
I wish I could post a picture of it on here but the file is a little too large to be allowed. It is a kimono which has 130 different stitches in it and mine at least has 28 different threads. I think Carol was a little more disciplined in the number of threads that she used!!! Finished it is about 11inches by 15 inches so you can understand why it took us a while to stitch it. It is done in needlepoint on 24 mess canvas, which means 24 holes to the inch!
Has anyone else entered anything in their county or state fair?
