Hi MaryFrances! I just thought I'd check in and let you know the latest. On March 31, I will be a three-year survivor of pancreatic cancer. Hooray! That awful Whipple surgery leaves your body changed for life, but I can handle it. Of course they did have to increase my insulin, however, they are more or less leaving it up to me on how much to use. I take 122 units of Lantus a day. Does that seem too much to you? They want me to take Humalog before meals but that tears up my lower g.i. system and I can't do that. I don't eat big meals or many carbs anyway, but when I do plan to eat a bigger meal (like my treat for having to visit my oncologist is a trip to Ruby Tuesday's), I do about 14 units of Humalog. Just wanted to know your thoughts. I have changed my family doctor and the new doctor has said he may send me to an endrocrinologist as my A1C was 8. (But that was at Christmas time and I just had to have a bite of anything offered to me! My bad!)
How's your little darling? Does she stay with you at the computer like she used to? We are still having a time with little Freddie. He is more cat to handle than we've ever had to deal with. And hard-headed as he can be! He chases Poco around until we stop him or she finds a place to get away from him, but we still love that little devil.
Like to hear from you, how you are doing, etc. I will try to visit the board more often. A good deal of my time is spent not feeling up to par and I tend not to get on the computer much. But I've missed you! Just wanted you to know I'm still around!
