Yesterday I finished reading The Beastly Bride edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling. It's short stories where the husband, wife, &/or children are shape shifters, monsters, or others.
Today I finished Maggot Moon by Sally Gardner, which is for older teens and adults. It's dystopian, but unlike most recent dystopias, it's truly awful. It's beautifully written, I mean that it's awful in its despair. But the main character Standish is able to experience joy and humor amidst the bleakness. It's set, not in the future, but we find in 1956 in the Motherland. The Allies did not win World War II, though that is never said.
Now I'm reading Skin by Donna Jo Napoli, which I got as an ARC back in December. Next up, I'll finish Life After Life by Kate Atkinson. I read only half of it on the Kindle, before last week's book club discussion of it. It has since arrived at the library.
What's a favorite tv show --that you are willing to admit? Either one you watch now, one you watch on Netflix, or one you used to like?
For me, and it's not the only one, but I quite like "The Walking Dead."
