My 9 month old is currently still nursing but at his last dr appt he had dropped significantly in weight. At birth and for the first 3 months of life he was 50% for weight 90% height. At 6 months he was 10% weight and 90% height and at this last appt he was only 1.4% weight and 75% height. So he's falling off the growth curve.
My ped told me I had 3 weeks to get him to gain weight. I have to bottle feed him and try and get 30 oz of milk into him a day as recommend by my ped.
I am nursing him at night (4am) in the morning (9am) and before bed. The other 3 feeds he is getting about 5 oz expressed milk via bottle. I am sure I am no where near 30 oz of milk recommend by the ped. I am pumping and taking fenugreek to try and increase my supply.
I am quite certain that my supply has dropped. The number of sopping wet diapers has decreased recently and Ryan acted like he was hungry all the time. He only nurses for 5-7 minutes at a time then acts like he is done. He will take a 5oz bottle after nursing without spitting up we have discovered since the dr visit.
I do have an idea of how my supply dropped but let me know if you think this is plausible. I was on the mini pill for 6 weeks. Every other week I was getting AF. As far as I know, my milk supply drops every time I get AF. My milk never really had time to rebound before AF showed up again. Is this possible?
I know pumping is no indication of milk supply, but I am only getting 1.5-2oz out every time I pump (I did just start AF on Friday so I am a bit lower then normal)
As far as solids. He get 3 meals a day after nursing/bottle of milk.
So if you have read this far, thank you. Now what is the best way to increase my supply? nurse him every 2 hours then pump? He has been a happier baby since we have bottle feeding him and I need to continue to bottle feed him until his weight check on Dec 30th.
What if I nurse him, offer expressed milk, then pump?
Thanks ladies, I appreciate it.
