So is this an epi featuring the past??? What?? Love that he's a suspect :)
The cast and crew got back to work yesterday on Showtime's hit series, "Dexter." Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter and Julie Benz were all spotted on the set as filming on the fifth season of the sensational pseudo serial killer chronicle continued.
By this point in the article, you should be thinking to yourself, "um, what?!?!" Since as we all know Julie Benz's character Rita was brutally and shockingly murdered in the fourth season finale . Fret not, the epic and emotional ender wasn't a dream or something of the like despite the fact Rita is returning -- it's only for one episode.
But how? Why? And how? I'll allow Julie to shed some light (emphasis on "some") on Rita's return. "Rita is not going to be a ghost! The writers would never do something so cheesy," she told E! Online . "If she does come back, it would be to move things along."
Season five will be filled with lots of forward motion as Dexter's forced to not only grapple with the fallout from Rita's murder (he becomes a suspect!) but also the trials and tribulations of becoming a single father to three! For his part, Michael C. Hall -- who is thankfully cancer free now -- gave the LA Times a little insight into what he'd like to happen this season.
"Well, I'm certainly interested in going through the aftermath of the enormous mess that has been made of Dexter's world at the end of the fourth season. And I think the relationship to the code, to the father, what happened at the end of the fourth season is sort of a revamped version of Dexter's origin story. But in this case, he has some responsibility for what happened. I don't know if that's going to lead to his complete mental collapse — doubt it — or rehabilitation — I doubt that too. But how will he move forward? It's the question that everybody who watches is probably pretty interested in."
