IVF at 42? Is there even hope???

Hi everyone

I'm Becca and here's my pretty typical story:

I have a 15 year old son from a prior marriage and I've been married to hubby #2 for 2 years. I'm 42. We've been doing cycles of clomid and FSH shots for the past year and a half and we got pregnant last July only to miscarry 8 weeks later (right on my 42nd birthday!) Our next step is IVF.

We have our first Dr appt for IVF tomorrow and I spent some time online last night searching for anyting reassuring about success for 42 year old women. Needless to say, I'm pretty bummed out now. The internet has got to be the MOST depressing place in the world for a woman over age 40 who's TTC!

As you can imagine, this is gonna be emotionally and financially expensive. Is there anyone who can tell me something positive about our chances? I'm healthy and I'm ovulating and hubby's sperm are good. We got prego last July so we know it *can* happen. But it still seems like such a long-shot!

Please?!?!? Has anyone gotten pregnant from IVF here? Do you know anyone over age 40 who's gotten pregnant with her own eggs?

I need encouragement!

Becca
