I know that my sister posted a quick note on here on that the baby was born , but here is the longer version.
I started having what I now know are contractions Monday evening about 6pm. They were coming about every 15 or 20 minutes. I didn't sleep at all that night because they kept waking me up because of how painful they were. Tuesday I went to the drs and they said I was 3cm dilated and 70% effaced, and sent me over to the hospital be be monitored for a while. The contractions weren't strong enough to register on their monitor and I wasn't changing at all so they sent me home. Tuesday night was worse than Monday, the contractions were getting stronger and closer together. They were coming about 5 minutes apart. That continued all day Wednesday and Thursday I decided to go to the doctors and get checked and I was at 4 cm and 100% effaced. They did a NST and it came out great, and the contractions were coming every 3 to 5 minutes. The doctor wanted me to go over to the hospital to get checked, so before we did that we decided to walk around the mall a bit in hopes that would speed things up. No such luck- I was still 4cm and 100% but had made no progress in a few hours so I was sent home again. Friday the contractions were about 7 minutes apart for most of the day, but they were lasting longer. I didn't really think that I was changing at all, but apparently Kev noticed something different in me. About 3:30 Kevin called the drs and we went straight to the hospital, on the ride there I was feeling a lot pressure down below. We left the house a little after 4, got the hospital about 4:45. By the time I got checked out by one of the nurses in triage it was about 5:30. Much to my surprise I was 9cm. Once I got there the contractions were pretty much right on top of each other. They got a room ready for me and got an IV in me just in case I needed one. Once we got to the room I had a couple more contractions before they checked me again and I was 10 cm. They said if I felt the need to push I could, and that is when my water broke. 2 contractions later about 3 pushes Lucas Gabriel was born at 6:27 pm weighing 6 lbs 8 ounces, and 19.5 inches long. I had my drug free birth after all.I did tear, and required a few stitches, but other than that I am feeling great. Things have been going fairly well so far. In the beginning we had a little trouble BF but I think that we are getting the hang of it now. DH and I are so in love with this little guy.
