Ethan is 10 days old, and I have drawn the conclusion that he is not yet ready for his crib. I tried hard-core swaddling with the Miracle Blanket, which DS loved. I tried not swaddling, laying down awake, laying him down asleep... but he won't sleep more than 20 minutes or so in the crib. What he wants is to sleep snuggled up on my chest. :) I have resorted the past few nights to sleeping in our big recliner downstairs with him on my chest. He wakes to eat then goes back to sleep. It's the only way I know so far to get more than 2 hours of sleep! I do not want to co-sleep, our bed is too cushy and I'm not comfortable with the potential risks. Plus our dog sleeps in our bed. During the day, he sleeps in the swing, or in the pack-n-play, or in the car seat if we're out and about. I googled this question and found that people either find swaddling successful, or have baby sleep in the car seat, in the crib. The car seat is elevated and baby feels more snuggly in there as well. But then you have to break the habit eventually of sleeping in the car seat! But I have to break him of the habit of sleeping on me. I am trying to be patient with the little guy, he just wants what he knows and is familiar with, which is to be close to mommy. I know this too will pass, but thought I'd put the question out there for any BTDT moms. TIA!
