I posted these same questions on the diapering board. I would really appreciate your insight:).
We are using a cloth diapering service for the first 10 weeks. But we ran out of CDs before the next delivery, so he was in disposables between about day 6 to 9. On day 8, our midwife noticed a little diaper rash during his check up. It's on both sides of his little bum cheeks.
With the cloth diaper service, we we're not allowed to use zinc-based cream. So, I used the Angel Baby Bottom Balm until yesterday but it didn't help - the rash was getting worse. So, as of this morning we are using Penaten and have him in disposables. I hope that it will clear up quickly with that.
I really don't want to give up on CD's I'd appreciate advice on any of these questions...
-Is there anything we could do to clear the rash up faster?
-What can we do to prevent rashes when using cloth diapers? We have been using just cloth wipes with water. Should I use the "bottom cleaner" that I bought? Wipe after pees as well as poos? Corn starch to keep him drier?
-Our midwife suggested giving him diaper-free time. Any suggestions on how and when to do this?
I would really appreciate any advice! Thank you:).
