Lucy will be 6 weeks old on Wednesday and things are going great! We're pretty sleepy...but other than that, doing good.
She's still nursing really well. About every 2.5-3 hours during the day and about 4-5 hours at night. Last week she slept 7-8 hours at a time for about 5 days. I was in heaven!! But this week it was back to normal.
We've been out of town with her several times already. DH was gone for a week, so we drove to my Moms about 5 hours away. She does pretty good in the car--cries for the first 5 minutes in her seat and then she's out.
I'm feeling good. My incision healed very nicely and I feel "normal" again. Still a little sad about the c-section since it was so different from what we wanted. My doula and I talked a lot about it, and it seems like there were several "circumstantial" obstacles that really worked against my plan for a natural birth. *Being more than an hour from the hospital. *Being 10 days overdue. *Having gestational diabetes (and on insulin) etc..Hopefully, I won't have to deal with any of those next time. And, really, the c-section wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. My doctor was also VERY sweet and really helped to make it a good experience. They put her on my chest before we left the operating room and she never left my sight after that. My doula met me in recovery to help her latch on...They really tried to honor all parts of my birth plan that they still could. They did a double-layer suture and say that I'm a good candidate for VBAC.
For now I'm just loving my sweet girl and focusing on getting healthy before the next baby (in hopes that I'll side step the gestational diabetes). I've lost all my pregnancy weight (only 13 lbs) and am down another 6 pounds! Doing Weight Watchers to continue losing.
