Some want pope to scold pro-choice Pelosi
Feb. 17, 2009
The Catholic chat-o-sphere is not entirely lost in a guess-the-archbishop game. (I've been playing "Who's the next Archbishop of New York," too, so unless the pope beat me to it , I'll have a new guess tomorrow.) There actually is another topic roiling the pot: The Pelosi Watch.
Will House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the pro-choice California congresswoman who calls herself an "ardent" Catholic, take Communion at Mass in Rome before her scheduled audience with Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday? Will the pope scold her and other politicians for veering away from church doctrines calling abortion an intrinsic evil?
