My daughter is 7 years old and has ADHD/inattentive. She has never had any problems with being hyper...or at least being hyper that was normal for a kid her age. We put her on concerta last year when she was going to fail kindergarden. Her older brother is ADHD/impulsive so we figured DD might be ADHD, but we waited. Now it seems that when she is off her medicine (weekends)she is out of control hyper. Not using her brain at all. Before the meds, she was not hyper like this. Is this normal?
Also, does anyone notice that concerta takes a LONG time to get into the system? It takes her about an hour before it is working. I am really thinking about switching. She is already at 36mg. Anything lower doesn't work but 5-6 hours.
