First let me say that I am also a parent of a child with special needs. My daughter has spina bifida and is 6. I could write a book about how awesome she is.
My reason for being here is I am searching for parents that have 3rd and 4th graders that are consider educable mentally handicapped. I will be teaching this class for the first time this year and before I "hear" what the school has to say about expectations and such, I want to talk to the experts (moms...and sometimes dads LOL!) I guess I want to know what you expect from the educational system. What are you lifetime goals for your children? What have your schools done that you like? dislike? Describe your "dream" teacher and "dream" class. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you guys know of a board specific to this issue, I would LOVE to know about it.
