I thought I would introduce myself, as I have already posted several times on this board (mostly in the Hearing Impairments folder).
I am a teacher of the visually impaired/deaf-blind and orientation and mobility specialist. I am now more involved in administration, so I used to go to the Hearing Impairments board to see what issues families were having. I'm not a parent myself, but I have the world's cutest nephew (who is growing very accustomed to being spoiled when Auntie comes to visit) and, in my professional life, I have seen children through many stages of development (I've had one student potty training while teaching the another how to manage her menstrual cycle).
Basically, I am posting this introduction for two reasons -- to offer myself as a resource and to request permission to be here. I lurked on the HI board for many years before posting because I didn't want parents being uncomfortable with a teacher-type actively involved in board activities. Also, I know that there is an IEP/504 board (which I just found), but I can handle questions about those issues as well.
