My 5 yr old dd just started kindergarten last Wednesday. I walk her to her classroom, then stand outside while she stands in line waiting for her teacher to go through her backpack with her. If I don't she's running after me telling me she wants me to stay.
When I stay and wait she calms down (there are a few tears once we get to the classroom) goes through her backpack with her teacher and then once she's put her things away and sits down she gives me once last look and is calm and happy.
Her teacher however seems rather glassy if she sees me standing there. I'll hear "Oh there's Mom" or something like it. I don't see a problem with walking her to class, and letting her calm down while I stand there. Otherwise she's in tears and doesn't want me to leave.
Someone told me I wasn't doing her any good by walking her to class. Is this true? Should I walk her there as long as she needs me to?
