Proposal vs. Query vs. cover letter
I wrote a childrens story. I illustrate as well. I only have sketches so far, but my question is should I write a proposal instead of a query because I have thoughts on selling the book along with an entire line of products associated with the characters, for example; a journal, snowglobes, stationary, figurines, gift sets, dolls etc. Or is that something they decide according to the popularity of the book? charla

Th e Last Christmas
I didn't know it was the last Christmas we would spend together.
I would have paid more attention to him and less to the other guests.
Although the smell of garlic from the scampi filled the kitchen, I would have much rather taken in the ever-so-slight odor of machine grease he seemed to carry with him where ever he went; the smell I still get a trace from when I smell his tie hanging in my clost.

Cover (not query) letter help?
I was always told that fiction pieces didn't need query or cover letters. However, the Writer's Market listing for this magazine (the one my rejection letter suggested I submit to) specifies that I should include a cover letter.
Help! I have no idea what information this should include.
Any and all tips are welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Raven

Another follow up to November 10th class: Book Proposals
Book Proposals
The first step in selling a nonfiction book is to write a proposal (as opposed to writing the book first)). The second is to write a query asking publishers or agents if they’d like to see your proposal. It is not wise to send out a query unless your proposal is complete.) These proposals are essentially a sales pitch in the form of a detailed packet of information that outlines what you intend to write, why you’re writing it and who is going to buy it and why.
