November Exercise - Bacon

How many words?

I want to get in on November's writing exercise, but I was wondering what the word count limit is. Can someone post this info please? Thank you.

Starting from Scratch?

Hi all ~ I have a really strong desire to write my own lifestory but to write it as fiction.

Has anyone else started out by being insprired to write about their own lifestory too?

I have only taken one or two course in writing, and enjoyed it. Other than doing this I have not pursued a degree and can not afford to do so.

My question is how would you begin to get started and/or is it possible to even do so with my minimal credentials?

My Favorite Birthday Birthdays for me are usually over before they even begin. In anticipation of my loving the gifts, people give them to me before my birthday. This year, however, was different. My husband surprised me with a trip to Baltimore, about 80 miles from home, to see the Ravens play football. I know most women would not be thrilled by this but I was ecstatic. I could already smell the hotdogs, hear the beer man yelling and feel the excitement.

Guidelines for Critique:

Tonight when we were discussing literary fiction with Stan Corwin I was trying to remember a title that I think might be

helpful--it's "Creating Character Emotions" by Ann Hood. I thought Stan was fabulous--I talked to him after the class and he's already agreed to return when his new book is published. So stay tuned--we have lots of interesting guests coming up. Jessica

November Exercise: Pear Preserves

Pear Preserves

The first time it happened was midway through August. I was about ten years old and was thoroughly enjoying my summer vacation. I was always a tomboy and the many trees in our yard were perfect for climbing. My favorite was the wild peach because it was the tallest. Once at the top I could see the whole neighborhood. Dad had warned me to stay out of his fruit trees. I always tried to obey Dad because when he spoke, he meant business.
