July Exercise
The Hands of Time (from my journal)
The phone rang before nine that morning. It was my mother, asking if I wanted to come over. She needed help sorting through all the old photos stored upstairs in the spare room. I was surprised by her call because my mother is the most organized person I know. She never does anything spontaneous, always choosing to plan ahead for even the simplest of tasks. On that particular morning, she sounded young, breathless, and in a hurry to get back to those boxes that held our family history inside of them.
appreciation of everday glories
This past week has been a change in perspective for me. I find wonder in the fact that I am able to rise in the morning, albeit slowly and with a degree of pain.
Last Sunday my husband and I were out riding ATV's. I remember speeding up to pass a dark red suv and that's the last thing I remember...until we were in the truck heading for the hospital.
My husband tells me I was on the ground, moaning when he came back for me. I have no memory of the accident and spent a night in the trauma unit of a local hospital.

I actually took this from 3 different observations and journal entries. Plus I wanted to try first person PoV present tense.

What would this little old man say if I told him I was here to see the woman who tried to kill me? Call security and have me escorted me out? Possibly. At least I'd have a good reason for missing lunch.
