Merry Meet all..
Hello, I thought I'd check this out (and submit the writing exercise). . .
I am Sam and I have written since I could write. I've done poetry, short stories and novels (appalling at best) and now am a grant and curriculum writer for a school system. I write everyday but seldom (if ever) creatively. I thought I'd give this a try and stretch my brain a bit.

My Introduction
Hello Everyone, Thanks for the Welcome.
I'm KathyJ or better known as 'katee10'. I've been around iVillage for several months, now. I am a writer. Oh, wow, that sounds so good. Yes! I am a writer. I write poetry, short stories, and I am working on my first novel and doing research for a second novel that has been floating around in my head for about 4 years. It is going to be tough one so, it had to grow and so did I, before I could really get into it.
HELP......I need advice please....
Greetings everyone
I am working on a dialog scene, but am very unsure as to set it all up.
Is there a formula?
If someone is speaking, and in the middle of two sentances he completes an action do you have double quotation marks like this....
example one
"I never dine before seven," Jane placed her hands on the soft roundness of her hips, "Is that a problem for you?"
or is it...
example two
Oct. Writing Exercise: FACE MY FEARS??
October Exercise
There once was a young girl named Robin. Robin lived in the country in a quaint little house with her Mother and Father. Her grandparents lived beside them, in another tiny white house, just like theirs. Much farther down the windy gravel lane were other little white houses, all similar to hers. Aunts and uncles and grown up cousins lived in those bungalows. There were no other no other children living on Robin's road.
