Halloween writing challenge

It was a dark and stormy night. It really was. And I was laying in my dark bed and breakfast room bed, snuggled under layers of blankets recalling the tale our innkeeper had told that night over supper. I suppose it was because it was the night before Halloween and the storm outside was menacing, but I couldn't seem to get it out of my head.

Calling all CL's: cl-skats, cl-judyb... where are your October exercises?

I'm truly sorry if you can't participate in the contest. Hopefully you'll find that you can. Meanwhile, I'd LOVE to read some of your writing and I'm sure you can participate in the writing exercises. Please do! I can't wait to read your stuff.

A Little Too Much

Once upon a time no one, nowhere, nothing seemed to make sense to Holly. She sensed the feeling of endless drifting. One moment she was working in an office for an overbearing tyrant next frame she was standing over the body of her teminally ill son Charles. She was lost with no one to turn to.

Where was everyone? No doctors, nurses, or family members just herself and Charles. She tried to fathom what, why, and when whatever had happened to her beloved son had happened.

Hi New Here also. This is so nice.

Hi. This is so nice. As a teen I always wished to become a writer, in any form. However, I steered a little off course and became a full time mother and housewife. This is the first story I've completed since highschool (and I'm not going to tell when that was, but Cindy Lauper was still cool). I'd appreciate any comments. The idea just popped into my mind, and flowed to the keyboard. Because of it's length, I'll post in sections. If it interests you, you can read the other sections. Happy Day, Lynn

lilginjer's October Exercise: The Day She Woke Up

The following is a repost of lilginjer's October Writing Exercise. Lilginjer asked for some feedback and I thought reposting it would make it easier:

Who I am, Why I write

Hi!

I'm new to the board, and already loving it. I used to write when I was young, first poetry, then fiction, then songs. Somehow, I lost the urge. Now I am going through a really bad time in my life, and find that writing is cathartic for me. My October submission was inspired by my internet genealogy search. I started thinking about how we feel like family, and by bloodlines we are, but what do we really know about each other? Most of us will probably never meet, and if we did, would it spoil the illusion?

October writing exercise - my first submission - be kind, please!
