A little something

I *never* write poetry but this forced its way out of me a few weeks ago. Any feed back is welcomed.--Kat

Magazine Writers?

Hi, there. I'm a publicist for a living, so I do get paid for writing (so lucky!) but I'd really rather being writing for magazines, either writing culture/trend pieces or confessionist essays. I've got lots of ideas and am vaguely aware that I need to query editors but have no idea how to do this. Any suggestions?

Okay Here Goes

Final Journey

Lay me down in a field of green and gray, My cup is filled to the top. Icy fingers of time entice me so Luring me to dance with them once more. The music is slowing down, Softly swaying through the trees.

I watch in awe as the final scene is played out before me, Oblivious to my surroundings. My eyes are closed, my thoughts are all that's left behind. Just words for others to interpret whether they be right or wrong.

Welcome Home Jessica, I have a question.................

Some reasons why fiction manuscripts are rejected:

Hungry Mind Review's 100 Best Books of the 20th Century

According to Barbara Kingsolver:

"Figure out what you have to say. It's the one and only thing you have to offer."

Any suggestions for an EVIL Character?

I have a character (female, middle aged) who is obsessed with revenge. It is not enough for her to destroy the person she hates, she wants him to suffer the loss of everyone he loves. She manages to kidnap his 19 year old daughter (his only remaining family member) and plans to videotape torturing her and send the tapes to him.

Repost: Dictator Reading List for TerryLea

Dear TerryLea,

I don't know if you saw this before the last board archived so I'm reposting it.

You asked for information about dictators to help you with your story. My husband, Tom, is a historian with a passion for political science. (Handy guy to help with research!) The most successful dictator of modern times was Joseph Stalin and I asked my husband to please give me a short book list I could post for you.
