Short Story Contest

In the last chat we were talking about maybe doing a Halloween themed short story contest. Any further word on that?

That last post is too deep for me. I've been lurking and feel it's time to speak.

I have been working on family memoirs. I suppose I fancied myself another McCourt. While writing little pieces of my family's history I found that I love to write. It makes me feel so free.

What is the Purpose of Fiction?

Quote of the week:

"Writing a novel is like recovering from a death of someone close to you. If you don't take it one day at a time, you'll never survive. Novel manuscripts are so long that if you feel daunted by the length, chances are you'll be so overwhelmed by the myriad of decisions you'll never finish." Eric Lustbader

My Romance Readers and Writers Board is up and running, please visit! (m)

The Community Moderator asked me to host a Romance writing and reading board and it just got up and running last night. The title is going to change to Romance Readers and Writers.

I'd love it if any of you would pop by, particularly the ones specifically interested in romance writing! Here's the link: http://boards1.ivillage.com/cgi-bin/boards/bcromance

Thanks!

A HUGE FAVOUR TO ASK IN FAITH!!!

Missed the class but have a couple ?'s

How can I get the writing class transcripts?

When I go to the transcript section I don't see the class on writing your passion (I believe it was the August 11 class maybe) or the Plot and Structure Class (August 18). Am I looking in the wrong place? or does it take a while for them to show up there? or are the titles just different? The list seems awfully short for all the transcripts? What am I missing? Thanks, Denise

Did anyone get the book list from last night's class?

I tried to copy it from the chat but lost it.

I know we said anything by Natalie Goldberg or Gary Provost and Jessica mentioned The Marshall Plan by Evan Marshall. After that I'm lost.

It was a fine list or at least a fine beginning. It would be nice to have recommended books listed on the board every once in a while.
