Board #70 is part of history now.

As always, if your recent post hasn't received the attention it deserves, feel free to repost it.

If you ever find yourself with nothing to do and the words just won't come for you to write, take a trip through the 71 archives of this board. You'll find some great exercises and conversation. Maybe you'll find some inspiration, too.

March Exercise: Un-learning survival habits

At the age of fourteen I had ambitions. To write, to paint, to be creative, to be some one! But 'they' conspired, bullied, humiliated, taught me, trained me.

Don't stand out, be different, fulfill your potential.

Don't be too bright, teachers pet. Don't do it as fast as your abillity, they'll nick your homework and show you up. Don't tell the teachers, a intellegent thing like you knows they just want 'good' girls with the only ambition to be wives and mothers hidden behind the wheels of commerce.

Hi everyone,

I am new to the board. I have visited the site a number of times now, enjoying your stories and comments. The short story I post below is intended for the March excercise and any feedback would be welcomed.

Thanks, glad to be here - Kerry :)

Sheesh, finally. March Exercise (m)

ON WRITING

I had an abusive childhood. I say this not for sympathy -- I don't need it anymore -- but to lay the groundwork for why I write.

Just for chuckles or for extra inspiration, a bonus writing prompt...

Anyone else having trouble getting into chat? it keeps telling me..

it's unavailable. If you're in there and I'm not, know that I'm trying! :-)
