March Exercise,,,My fantasy writing life,,,,

Ok, this is how I see myself with my writing career in the future...I hope this is the idea of the exercise...

French lilacs and honey suckle sweetened the evening air as I stepped out onto my front porch. I wanted to catch the last bit of sunset. Far off in the distant heaven, Prussian blue swirls of mist intermingled with red and orange streaks of clouds. And just under that reddish glow, flushed billows of haze wafted across the sky. I saw the first twinkle of the North Star and watched as two ducks took flight.

March Exercise

Canceling Class tonight -- sorry for the last minute (more)

but I have been battling a wicked migraine all day and it is NOT getting better, to say the least. I hate to do this at the last minute, but don't see how I'll be able to stare at the screen that long.

My apologies,

Shirley

Does this site have a weekly check-in or accountability?

Great site Jill and here is another that you might like

What a great site Jill. It is almost (I said almost) as good as ivillage. Another site that I like and some of you might also enjoy is hollylisle.com or forwardmotion.com. They are both by the same person and she does make her living by her writing talent. Check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks again for the tip. Faith

How many of you write for a living?

And if you write for a living, in what capacity do you do so?

(make a living is defined by earning money to support yourself, stay at home wifes / moms doesn't count!)

writing questions...need advice

Maybe this belongs on another board, since this isn't an exercise, if so shout at me...

I am writing and wonder: 1. My character needs to share some of "her" stories from her background and life. How can I do this without jumping into flashbacks? This is especially important for her to be sympathetic to the reader, and to illustrate her growth. There are three major ages in her life that need to be told. Childhood, teen-age, 20-something, which brings us to the current dilema.

Ms. Shirley...

Do you post the exercise AND do it too? Ever? Well, maybe you've already written in direct relation to this topic. Just curious!

P.S. I got your book! Unfortunately, it must be beneath several loads of clean laundry right now.... I look forward to it.

Thanks!

Jaylyn
