A toast for the New Year!

"May your thoughts be the lamp to your will."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thank you Carolineleav

I just read your comment on my story. Thank you. I never realized before that being a writer didn't necessarily mean I was published. I now see myself as a writer, someone who puts their thoughts and words on paper.

I like to write about life experiences. Things that have positive and encouraging messages, since the negative is so easily available, an attempt to balance, per se.

? for CL-Nozyitch

I just read your comment about my story, and I would like to thank you for your very positive comments.

I would like to ask you if you have any suggestions about magazines? I am elated at the idea that somebody who is not related to me thinks that there's a remote possibility that somebody out there MIGHT want to p, p, publish my story. That would be my dream come true.

Leilani

PS. Where does your name 'Nozyitch' come from? I think that's cute.

december 'biography' and intro

I have looked 'but never dared' till now. Bit of a late developer me! (no. I honestly lack confidence) Mum had always encoraged but I put it down to a proud Mum. Anyway here goes.

Lizzie's Bio

Elizabeth LeNora Kindrick was born on February 2, 1906 in Corpus Christy, Texas. Her father, Delbert Kindrick, was a farmer. Her mother, LeNora Ruth Bains Kindrick was a housewife. Elizabeth, Lizzie to all, was born after her mother had miscarried twice. Annie Ruth came next, but only lived a few hours.

Delbert's philosopy of life was work, honesty and family. This he taught to Lizzie every day. Lizzie worked hard on the farm and kept up with her school work.

Dec exercise, 1 of 2 (bio)

Hi, I'm posting the bio and excerpt separately to avoid a monster post.

This is the mother of one of my main characters. At this point she's 48, it's November of 1973. I used for this exercise a character prompt sheet, based on a questionnaire given out at a counseling program for teens; the answers are in Caroline's voice. I've found it's a great reality check for your characters once you have them up and running.

How about some toasts to celebrate the new year? (m)

I read an article recently about giving good toasts. Number one, if you are asked to make the toast at a gathering, you never refuse. Second, you don't initiate a toast when people are low on drinks or you have the host chasing around to get everyone filled up. Third, it's supposed to be short and sweet.

Let's hear some!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
