Magical Realism: A Fish Story

This is inspired by a dream I had and a nightmare I lived through. I welcome suggestions and insight. :) Cher

The fish was elusive. I don’t know why I was chasing it, except to catch it. I still have no idea why I had to catch it, except that it was as important to my body as breath.

Sept. exercise-A Faint Scent of Roses (m)

Maybe it's the week, maybe it's the exercise this month. But here are my memories of the one true home I had.

A FAINT SCENT OF ROSES

I didn't live with my mother, growing up. When I was five, my parents were divorced. Not their choice. In 1945, she had just recovered from her second severe manic episode, and the doctors told my parents the episodes would be periodic but ongoing. "Too difficult for the children," they said. So, we spent our childhood with my dad and my stepmother.

Inheritance (September exercise)

First Impressions (Sept. Exercise)...hello board!

different viewpoint; DARKEST EARTH

(scene suggested by something in the UK SF story Timeshift in which something similar happens) The boy sat down looking at the man before him...and the woman beside him. "Then stop denying the truth. You know who I am. IM YOU Im you 30 years down the line! IM YOU!" "Then how..."

"Ive learned a lot since your time. Mom and Dad arent around any more, if thats what youre wondering"

"And those people?"

"Sacrifices have to be made. Society needs order."

"But that was the old neigbourhood!"

Sputnik! (September exercise)

It's been a hell of a week. As I post this, on Tuesday a.m., it's exactly seven days from the time our four planes were captured and their brave passengers and the other victims were murdered. What can I say?? Just WE WILL SURVIVE! Stick together regardless of race or religion; we are all one family. - Sara

Anyway, here's another little exercise. This one is about the Cold War: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Heart of America (m)

IN MEMORY

Last Tuesday, terrorists destroyed the World Trade Center and damaged the Pentagon, taking many American lives. I suppose they mistakenly thought by hitting these symbols of finance and government, they were striking at the heart of America.

They were mistaken.
