Stars: they're just like us. They go out with their boyfriends! They shop for clothes! They stop oncoming traffic to save strangers' lives! Erm - what?

Freida Pinto is being hailed as a real-life superhero by the London press for saving a fan's life. Except that's not quite how it went down. Here's the story: Pinto was shopping in London's West End with her boyfriend, Slumdog Millionaire co-star Dev Patel. The couple was mobbed by paparazzi, and in the midst of all the flashbulbs, Pinto didn't notice a fan approaching her for an autograph. So Pinto bumped into her, sending the poor woman flying into traffic. Once the autograph-seeker hit the pavement, the startled starlet realized what was going on. According to an onlooker, she then ran into Regent Street, stopped an oncoming car, and "made sure the woman was okay."

What, no CPR? No staying by her side until the paramedics came? Did the woman even get her autograph? Seems like accounts of Pinto's heroism are greatly exaggerated -- but hey, it was still a nice thing to do.

In truth, Pinto's image could use a bit of an overhaul. The last time she was all over the gossip pages, it was because she'd allegedly ditched her fiancee (and boyfriend of eight years!) for Patel the moment Slumdog became a hit. Ouch. On the plus side, she's recently become friends with Angelina Jolie the foremost celebrity expert on turning your image around.

Pinto is currently in London to shoot a new Woody Allen movie, which co-stars Antonio Banderas, Naomi Watts and Anthony Hopkins.
