Friendship Bracelets Go from Homemade to High-End

Get your fave childhood accessory, now with a hefty price tag

This latest jewelry trend has me craving s'mores (like I need an excuse!).

J. Crew recently debuted a collection of one-of-a-kind "friendship bracelets" by Frieda & Nellie. For this collaboration, Stacy Herzog and Sarah Reid, the New York-based designers behind the line (and best buds), combined the whimsical appeal of the summer camp handicrafts with a bit of grown-up sparkle.

Adding traditional closures and clasps, the wristbands feature rhinestones and metal chains, along with the classic chevron patterns in bright pastels. Currently, the bracelets are available at J. Crew's Soho and East Hampton stores in New York and range in price from $130 to $250.

The prep school-cool company isn't the only one reliving childhood memories though. Here are a few more pieces for you or your pals:

Perfect for your sweet (but slighty dark and twisted) BFF, Aurélie Bidermann's Mother of Pearl Charm Bracelet features a white skull trinket on a pink floral ribbon ($100 at Net-A-Porter).

A definite upgrade from the old-school bargain yarns, the Freedom Friendship Bracelet by Carolina Bucci boasts 18k gold woven with a precious purple silk thread ($607.50 at Matches). It gives new meaning to the popular tune "Make new friends, But keep the old, One is silver, And the other gold..."

Made with Liberty print braided fabric, the Silver Heart Bracelet by Marie Joy includes a heart-shaped charm and unfinished edges for a causal, bohemian look ($79.68 at Kabiri).

A bedazzled version of the traditional Shashi wristbands (which are symbols of affection and fraternity), the Crystal Pavé Ball Woven Bracelet from Bloomingdale's ($95) looks great in multiples or added to an armful of bangles.

Are you a fan of the upscale friendship bracelets? Chime in now!
