Although he repeatedly ended up in the bottom three, Gavin DeGraw didn't mind the pressure of having to perform each week on Dancing with the Stars. As a live entertainer, he welcomed that aspect of the high-energy reality competition.
"I'll miss the whole pressure element of the show," DeGraw, 35, told People backstage after he and partner Karina Smirnoff were eliminated from the show. "I enjoy the pressure. I don't necessarily enjoy it all the time, but pressure is good frequently."
But there is one demand of being on Dancing with the Stars that the rocker admits he's happy to bid farewell to: tanning on a regular basis.
"It's a little scary," DeGraw explains. "The 'tan in the can' thing is a little scary because it makes your sheets look like you never bathe."
Even though he jokes about not helping Smirnoff defend her mirror ball win from last season, the singer says he "had a great experience" on season 14 of ABC's hit reality show.
"We made a lot of good friends," he says. "It's kind of like summer camp. We picked up a couple dancing tips. You don't need a trophy to learn how to dance. This is about stepping out and learning something new. It's not about winning and losing all the time."
