George Clooney Not Saying 'Arrivederci' to Italian Villa

The jet-setting Oscar winner denies reports that he's moving away from his beloved Lake Como home

George Clooney quickly put the kibosh on rumors that he was getting rid of his Lake Como home, called Villa Oleandra, when he released this statement yesterday:

"To complete the news cycle, I'm not buying an island and am not selling my house in Italy. The story was made up...then picked up...and now denied...end of another riveting day of false news."

Clooney felt the need to respond, when multiple reports surfaced that he was putting his Italian abode on the market, and searching for a new place on Loreto Island. Some outlets even reported that he purchased the entire island.

Hollyscoop.com reported that celebs -- like David and Victoria Beckham -- were lining up to get their offers in on Clooney's current residence. But it seems that the Up in the Air star will be staying put, and the people of Lake Como like it that way. The city's mayor, Roberto Pozzi, said, “It would be a shame if George went because he has become one of the locals and we have grown fond of him. Everyone has seen him when he comes over and he is always friendly."
