George Michael is about to do some time.
The singer has been sentenced to eight weeks in jail for driving under the influence and possession of marijuana after he drove his Range Rover through the storefront of a photo shop in London on July 4, the Associated Press reports.
After battling drug abuse for years and having multiple run-ins with the law, the former Wham! member still hasn't cleaned up his act. "It does not appear that you took proper steps to deal with what is clearly an addiction to cannabis," a judge told him. "That's a mistake which puts you and, on this occasion, the public at risk."
Last month Michael pleaded guilty to the charges placed upon him, after he admitted to smoking marijuana and taking a sedative before getting behind the wheel of his car.
In addition to the two months behind bars, Michael will lose his driver's license for five years. His lawyer says the singer is full of "profound shame and horror" for his actions.
"It is no exaggeration to describe him as a very kind, considerate and loyal man, constantly concerned for the plight of others," the attorney said. "The prospect he could have put anyone else in danger is an appalling prospect to him."
