Get the Look- Madonna's Makeup

She has an innate coolness and verve, but what makes Madonna so intriguing is her chameleonlike ability to transform herself, which, through the great media machine, we've so closely witnessed. It's as if we know her personally. And what fun knowing her continues to be! Seen here at a party for her children's book, Lotsa de Casha (FYI: She donates all proceeds to the Spirituality for Kids Foundation), Madonna looks lotsa de lovely in gently rouged cheeks, femininely pale brows and a most demure rose-coral mouth. Here's how to replicate the look as explained to us by makeup artist Deborah Grayson.

Step 1: Neaten up eyebrows by brushing them upward with a firm-bristled brow brush, then, using soft strokes, sketch in any sparse places with a sharpened ash-blonde pencil liner.

Step 2: Using your fingers, place an ecru-beige cream eye shadow across the entire lid, then dab a bit under the arch of the brow.

Step 3: With a rounded fluff shadow brush, place a smoky heather shadow across and into the crease of the eyelids. Diffuse the color by repeatedly blending back and forth, until you have just a soft, hazy wash of color.

Step 4: With the same smoky heather tone you used at the crease, make a soft line across the lower perimeter of the lash line using a pointed liner brush.

Step 5: Draw a superskinny line across the entire rim of the upper lash line. Just aim the tip directly at the roots of the lash line. Bear in mind that although the line is thin, it's also deep, so you may want to layer on two or even three very fine lines.

Step 6: Curl the upper lashes, then, using a deep brown volumizing mascara, carefully brush through the upper lashes from root to tip.

Step 7: Holding the mascara wand vertically, gently brush through the lower lashes with brown lengthening mascara to get that long, feathery look Madonna has.

Step 8: Apply an extremely emollient facial lotion, paying special attention to the areas that may be extra dry, such as under the eyes and around the lips.

Step 9: Using your fingers, apply a sheer liquid foundation to the entire face, to obscure any ruddiness or darkness that may appear, especially at the sides of the nose and chin, then blend out in light, even strokes.

Step 10: Making small circular motions with your fingertips, apply a sheer coral-pink cheek tint to the apples of the cheeks, blending upward toward the cheekbones.

Step 11: To set and lightly diffuse the foundation and cheek color, dip a full-headed powder brush into translucent matte blotting powder, shake off excess powder and carefully sweep across cheeks, forehead and chin.

Step 12: Using a fine-pointed lip brush, apply a coral-rose stain to the lips. Blot with a tissue and apply another layer.
