Get The Look: Michelle Williams

Long considered underrated for her roles on television and in film, the lovely and talented Michelle Williams is finally getting her props, for her role as Alma in the acclaimed film Brokeback Mountain. She won a Golden Globe for her performance and has been nominated for an Oscar. Here she works an haute-bohemian look in tranquil hues of putty and terra-cotta, which play up her delicate features and fair skin. She punctuates it all with just a hint of gold. We asked makeup artists how you can capture her look.

Step 1: Fill in any sparse areas of your eyebrows with a sharpened golden-blonde eyebrow pencil, using light, even strokes.

Step 2: Using the pads of your fingertips, pat a sparkly nude cream eye shadow across your entire eyelids '- just enough to make them glisten.

Step 3: Using a square, flat shadow brush, draw a broad line under the lower rims of your eyes with a shimmery putty-gray eye shadow. For Michelle's look, the more smudged, the better.

Step 4: Using a small, round-tipped eye shadow brush in a sweeping motion, add just a touch of golden-shimmer eye shadow under the arches of your eyebrows.

Step 5: Apply one coat of brown mascara to your upper lashes only.

Step 6: Use a cream-to-powder foundation to target any blotchy areas. Dot coverage where you need it and gently blend it outward with a cosmetic sponge.

Step 7: Use your fingers to apply a cream blush in a fresh apricot color on your cheeks. Begin at the most prominent part of your cheeks and spread toward your ears and temples.

Step 8: Fill in your entire lips with a matte terra-cotta lipstick pencil. Use one that has some moisture or vitamin E, so your lips won't feel too dry.
