Get the Look: Tina Fey's Makeup at the Emmys

We got the 411 from the 30 Rock star's makeup artist

Last night, I had as much Emmy Awards fun on Twitter as I did actually watching the show. Between the tweets of love, “Ohhh, Krya Sedgwick’s hair and gown look awesome!” to the “What WAS she thinking? January Jones' dress is the worst evah!” Not to mention, the backstage Twit pics from fellow journalists invited to Los Angeles… I’ve determined that one could enjoy the Emmys without ever having to turn on the television. Before the next big Hollywood self-congratulatory event, get yourself a Twitter account (if you don’t already have one) and log on. (Oh, and don't forget to add @iVillage!) You’ll know everything! It’s like watching the show with a couch full of friends without having to feed them snacks.

So back to the subject at hand -- the trends of the night: black over blush (Dianna Argon and Tina Fey), navy (Padma Lakshmi and Juliana Marguiles), and the Grecian goddess look (Kim Kardishian and Amber Riley).

My favorite of the night: Tina Fey, who rocked her dress, hair and makeup while still looking like herself. (After all, shouldn't that be what getting glammed up is all about?!) Her black over blush gown by Oscar de la Renta was total knock-out couture! It highlighted her shapely figure and still looked elegant and classy.

Though I can’t borrow the dress, I can buy the makeup and Tina went for the best: Chanel. Makeup artist, Kara Yoshimoto Bua, filled me in on the secrets. She says that the black beaded overlay dress, along with Tina’s beautiful eyes inspired her to do a slightly smoky elongated eye, and keep the lips and cheeks soft and pretty. To keep lips glossed and moist, she used Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Insolence ($32 at Sak’s Fifth Avenue). Her cheeks were dusted with Chanel Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Rose ($45 at Neiman Marcus). Those sexy eyes were created with the darker shade of Chanel Eye Shadow Duo in Gris-Subtil ($40 at Neiman Marcus). The smoldering look is finished off with Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara in Purple ($30 at Neiman Marcus).

Sorry that 30 Rock didn’t win, but Tina, you always rock!
