It's no surprise that the style and look of the toothbrush matters. After all, we're talking about your kids, who can still blow a gasket if their dinner plate isn't their favorite color (you know, the one that changes weekly). A good old fashioned brush that features characters like Scooby Doo, Dora, Hello Kitty or Thomas the Tank Engine may get your kid to brush without fuss, but you can also find more souped up versions that might excite them more. Dental hygienist and mom Amy loves electric toothbrushes because "they're like toys," she says "Some play music and light up. They're a big hit!" You can even find customizable toothbrushes that let your kids add stickers and their name to the brush. So buy a few different models and experiment with which one gets your kid jazzed about brushing -- and whichever model you buy, don't forget to replace it (and your own!) every three months.
